Amanda Holden appears to take cryptic swipe at Phillip Schofield amid ‘feud’ rumours
Amanda Holden has appeared to take a cryptic swipe at Phillip Schofield amid rumours of a "feud" between the pair.
Rumours of strife between the TV stars have been swirling for years, ever since Phillip, 61, reportedly blocked Amanda, 52, from hosting This Morning during Holly Willoughby's absence when she was in Australia temporarily presenting I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2018.
Amanda, who is a judge on Britain's Got Talent, hasn't held back when it comes to her opinions on Phillip, as she once said on her Heart radio show the things she didn't want to find in her house were "spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield".
In May, Phillip admitted to to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague and quit the show. On hearing the news, Amanda posted a strong-arm emoji to her Instagram Story.
.The star was on the front cover of Fabulous magazine, where she seemed to indirectly reference Phillip's dramatic fall from grace earlier this year.
While she refrained from directly discussing Phillip in her interview with the magazine, Amanda said: “You do have to be nice to people on the way up.
You are going to come down, but you don’t have to come crashing down.
“You can say things about me, and it’s water off a duck’s back. I know my reputation is professional and likeable.
“That’s what I wanted when I set out. Whatever job you’re in, there is the climb and there is the descent.”
The Britain's Got Talent judge worked alongside Phillip as a guest presenter on the ITV daytime show during 2014 while Holly Willoughby was on maternity leave.
Amanda was then set to fill in as a replacement for Holly on This Morning during her 2018 stint hosting I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! but the offer was reportedly withdrawn last minute.
The BGT judge believed that Phil was the real reason she missed out on the role, which went to Rochelle Humes instead.
Phil was rumoured to have campaigned for Rochelle to get the job instead, with claims he felt she was easier to "manage" on air.
A source at the time told The Sun: "Amanda was so excited when she learnt she had secured the role.
"She is ITV’s golden girl and has always been a firm favourite with This Morning.
"So she was shocked when she was taken out to lunch by ITV executives who told her that unfortunately they couldn’t follow through with the offer."
Just five months after Phillip Schofield left This Morning after 21 years, Holly Willoughby also announced she was quitting the show to focus on her family.
