Amanda Holden has revealed her husband Chris was saved by Thomas Haden Church when he had a choking episode.
The star was recalling the moment on her Heart Breakfast show this morning, claiming the actor – who stars alongside Sarah Jessica Parker in Divorce – came to the rescue.
God bless Hollywood!
‘I have to say, he [Thomas] is also the saviour of my husband’s life. And that’s no word of a lie,’ she said on Monday morning.
‘We were on holiday in America and Chris had to have a lunch with an American comedian and I was back at the hotel with the kids. And I did keep looking at my watch thinking oh brilliant this is going really well for him he’s been absolutely ages.
‘But actually what happened was, as he was eating pasta he got a bit lodged in his throat, thought oh ok I’ll have a bit of Diet Coke or whatever to swish it down.
‘It expanded and he was doing that British thing of carrying on and making eye contact with this American comedian. And he completely went blue, could not breathe.
‘And out of nowhere this man came and did the Heimlich manoeuvre on him and he threw up all over the table. He turned round and Chris saw Thomas Haden Church. The guy was like “are you okay?” Chris just goes “yeah, I loved you in Sideways”.’
Quite the life-saving moment there.
The couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in December last year and she opened up on the ‘secrets’ to their marriage recently.
‘Chris is very funny and errs on the side of lightness,’ she told Hello magazine last month. ‘We can make jokes out of any situation throughout the best and darkest times of our lives.
‘He’s rubbish at romance, but he’s there for the solid things – such as keeping my car clean and making sure I relax. He’s a proper bloke who looks after me. I’m a strong, opinionated woman, but he helps steer the Mandy ship.’
Thanks to Thomas, here’s to the next 10 years eh?
Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden airs weekdays from 6.30am-10am across the UK.
