Anneka Rice, 62, has spoken out after suffering a major mishap while filming for The Great Celebrity Bake-Off. The TV presenter admitted she made a mistake while attempting to make choux buns, but managed to “convince” long-term show judge Paul Hollywood otherwise.

Opening up on her error while attempting to make the French style pastry, Anneka shared: “For the Signature Bake we had to make something involving choux buns.

“In my head, I thought they were like little profiteroles – I didn’t get the memo it was a big bun.

“I looked over at John Bishop and his buns were very, very big – and I thought, ‘Oh no, what have I done wrong?’.

“I had to quickly make all my different-sized buns into an asset. I successfully convinced Paul that I’d made them that way on purpose… so luckily, I got away with that!”

However, that was not the end of Anneka’s kitchen nightmare, as she then encountered a problem with her “piping device”.

She continued to Radio Times: “I had a lot of problems around the piping.

“I’d never used a piping device before and the icing just oozed out everywhere in great, huge dollops all over the floor.

“I was absolutely mortified that I’d made so much mess, so I spent most of one challenge just trying to clean the carpet.”
