Coronation Street’s Will Mellor almost unrecognisable in appearance before fame
Will Mellor features in 1992 Caramac advert
Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestant Will Mellor made a surprise appearance in a Nestlé Caramac ad aged just 14 – and now, nearly 33 years on, the star has taken a trip down memory lane.
It comes following news that the popular chocolate bar has now sadly been discontinued by the manufacturer.
The Coronation Street actor shared video footage from the unearthed advert, which shows a much younger Will desperately heckling at the TV with his on-screen dad, as his favourite football team fails to score.
All that’s recognisable about Will in the ad is his distinctive voice, as he now bears almost no physical resemblance to his former self.
He and the dad angrily branded footballers “useless”, while the woman playing his mum joked: “I don’t know why they bother having commentators!”
Twitter user @UpperGwladysBlue shared the footage, explaining: “Nestle Caramac in the news because they’re ending production of them.

“In the advert, the father & son are watching the Everton vs Liverpool 4-4 draw from 1991, and are apparently EFC fans as they are frustrated by EFC failing to score in an attack.”
Will enthusiastically reposted and responded to the video, as it gave him the opportunity to reminisce.
“Wow! Time flies eh! I was about 14 when I did this!!” he exclaimed, posting a blushing emoji.
Then he let slip that he’d overindulged during the filming sessions, which portrayed him scoffing the mouthwatering caramel treats.

“Remember feeling sick after eating about 10 of ’em!!” he wrote in view of over 205,000 followers.
“Blimey, I’ve only just realised that the young lad on the sofa is you!” the original poster wrote back in amazement.
“Jesus you haven’t aged a day!” @paulie081 exclaimed – and Will also seemed to suggest that he was living up to his angry on-screen persona when it came to football.
In an echo of his ranting teenage self on the advert, he had written a tweet just hours earlier complaining: “What a f****** joke football has become!! P*** take!”
Will has also been ranting about boxing, following Tyson Fury’s loss to Francis Ngannou, branding it an “embarrassing result”.
Not long before filming his historic chocolate advert, Will had landed a role in Children’s Ward as Ben Rowlingson, while by 1995, he’d gained a place on Hollyoaks as Jambo.
His career took off from there, with the star recording his own single as well as appearing in Boyzone’s Comic Relief track, ‘When The Going Gets Tough’ – and a ten-year-role in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps followed.
Will has also appeared in Merlin, Casualty, EastEnders, Waterloo Road, Broadchurch and, more recently a role in Coronation Street as Harvey Gaskell.
He reached the semi-finals of Strictly last year with pro partner Nancy Xu.
