Darren Kennedy: Opt for fabric blends when you're feeling hot under the collar

A perfectly tailored suit is timeless.

Unfortunately, it’s not necessarily seasonless and this is where the fabric comes into play. In warmer weather, the fight is on against a sweaty back. Traditional fabrics tend to be heavier  – like thick flannel and tweed which belong in colder temperatures.

In the warmer months, it’s important to have a less suffocating option to hand. Think lighter fabrics, warmer colours, and less structured fits. Linen tends to be the first fabric that comes to mind when we think of summer suiting. It’s super lightweight and helps maintain coolness in soaring temperatures. The problem is that it creases easily, and stains even more so, meaning it requires regular dry cleaning to maintain a fresh, crisp look.

There is an alternative. A cotton/linen blend. This combines the breathability of linen with the structure of cotton which helps the fabric retain its silhouette. It’s also an excellent choice for travel as it’s very crease resistant. The ideal summer solution that’s light on fabric, heavy on style!

Modern yet so classy as always from Alicia Vikander. The vest top could easily run the risk of going into trashy territory but the three-piece combo works and her choice of boots are the perfect finishing touch.

With a positive message of shifting stereotypical notions of masculinity at its core, shaving brand Harry’s has steadily been changing the agenda – and our approach to male grooming.

Harry’s ‘Winston Travel Set’ is ideal for summer getaways, featuring a chrome-finished razor with an ergonomic handle; three extra blades; and a travel cover for your razor along with a travel-sized bottle of the brand’s shaving foam or gel, depending on your preference. From €26, at harrys.com

Top Tip

Partly lined or unlined blazers are ideal for warmer weather. Try a slim-fit blazer that tapers at the chest and waist with slightly narrower sleeve to create a fitted silhouette.
