The Disney actor, 20, passed away due to a seizure from an ‘ongoing medical condition’, which was confirmed by a spokesperson for the family.
Only hours before his death, Cameron posted a black and white headshot from an interview he did with ID magazine.
The post has since been inundated with messages from heartbroken fans, speaking of their disbelief at his sudden death.
Cameron had spoken in depth about spending his childhood on TV sets, living in Los Angeles with his family, and wanting to make the world a better place.
He also spoke about the dark side of fame in the 2018 interview, saying: “For about a year of my life, if I didn’t have to leave my house, I wouldn’t.
“It was a bad way of dealing with fame, but it’s a scary feeling to know that everybody is looking at you all the time.”
Fans have been leaving messages in tribute to Cameron, who rose in fame in the Descendants as Cruella de Vil’s son Carlos.
One posted: “OMG RIP. I’m in such disbelief.”
Another added: “”I really can’t believed this happened Rest in Peace we will always remember you.”
A third chipped in: “Rest in peace sleep tight forever missed you was always my fave in Jessie.”
A fourth wrote: “I’m in shock. RIP Cameron.”
Cameron is best known for his role as Luke Ross in Disney show Jessie, which ran for four series.
He also played one of Adam Sandler’s children in 2010 film Grown Ups.
