EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has left fans stunned as he showed off his new, transformed look after taking a break from the soap earlier this year.

The 52 year old soap star is currently on a 10 month hiatus from the BBC show which found him fame, after news of his divorce broke last year.

Adam’s character Ian Beale was last seen dumping his phone in a bin and leaving Albert Square via Walford East tube station, shortly after it was revealed that his wife at the time, Sharon, had a plot to kill him after she discovered he had a hand in her son Denny’s death.

After the dramatic on-screen departure, Adam has taken the time to explore the country on his bicycle and has documented his adventure on his Instagram page.

In one of his latest uploads, Adam is seen donning a silver beard while smiling in a selfie, which is very different to the clean-shaved Ian Beale we’re all familiar with.

Adam, who recently slammed a driver following a furious altercation, also shared photos of the sights from his trip in Manchester in the same post, to show how much he’s enjoying his adventure.

As he posted the selection of images on his Instagram page, actor Adam wrote: “Another day, another bike ride. This time Manchester. Amazing what you see when out on a bike.”

The snaps received 2,554 likes from some of his 553,700 followers while many rushed to compliment Adam on his new look.

One said: “Great photos as always Adam, hope your keeping well lovely xx”.

Another added: “Love the photos [red heart emoji] you're looking great babe [fire emoji] xxx”.

While a third gushed: “Nice to see you” next to a heart eye emoji. And a fourth commented: “Cool beard”.

It comes following reports that Adam’s divorce from Beverley Sharp is said to have “turned toxic”.

A source told The Sun on Sunday in January: “No one could understand why he wanted to take some time out suddenly and do the stage production.

“People have been speculating that it could be so he can get away with paying less in the divorce. It would be a tactic straight out of Ian Beale’s playbook.”

Adam’s split from his wife Bev was announced last year. The pair were married for 20 years and share two grown up children Jessica, 27, and Samuel, 23, together.

A representative for the hit BBC soap confirmed the news, saying in a statement: “Beverley and Adam separated in August 2019 and we ask that the family's privacy is respected.”
