EastEnders star Max Bowden has shared his heartache as he revealed he's still in pain one year on after his best friend of 15 years tragically died last year.
The actor, 27, who plays Ben Mitchell on the BBC soap, shared an emotional tribute to his friend, Maxwell Thompson, on his Instagram page as he said he was in "such pain" from grieving the loss.
His death came just months after two of his other close pals passed away, and more than a year on, grief is still hitting Max hard.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Max shared a picture of him and Maxwell smiling for a photo and wrote across it: "Grief is so odd.
He continued "Have had an amazing day. Have felt great. And now can't sleep, and feel in such pain from loss."
"I think it's really important to share how we feel. @hussainmanawer taught me that. It's OK to feel sad, and feel angry.
"Life's f***ing cruel. It's hard. And losing your nearest and dearest is beyond recovery. All we can do is our best."
He concluded: "Tonight might be a bad night, I accept how I feel right now. But I also strive to let myself feel differently tomorrow. This too shall pass. X".
In September last year, Max took to Instagram to share his pain at losing his best mate Maxwell.
He posted a number of pictures of them together having fun and wrote a lengthy post alongside it.
He wrote: "Maxwell Alexander Grey Thompson. Thank you for being my best friend for 15 years, for walking every avenue with me, entering into battle with me every time, lighting up my every minute of every day, and for loving me like you did.
"I will never have a better friend, and I will never love a man so much in my life.
"You were my soulmate, my rock, my ride or die, my everything – and I am so grateful that I got to call you my best friend. I am so so lucky."
Max has suffered a number of devastating loses in recent years, and previously revealed his friend Luke Goodings died in June 2021 and his agent pal Terry Mills passed away back in February of that year.
Just one day after expressing his pain and grief on Instagram, Max was seen attending the 2022 TV Choice Awards.
The actor, 27, who plays Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap, had earlier cut a dapper figure in a great suit as he posed on the carpet at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
He was nominated for the Best Actor in a Soap award for his work in EastEnders, but the accolade ended up going to Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle in ITV's Emmerdale.
