She’s come a long way since Spice World! Geri Horner joins the crème de la crème of Hollywood in Cannes as she poses with her Gran Turismo co-star Orlando Bloom at photocall

Her first big screen appearance came in the widely-panned 1997 musical comedy Spice World: The Movie, alongside her Spice Girls co-stars.

And despite the tepid reaction, Geri Horner, neé Halliwell, was given a chance at movie stardom once more with her appearance in Gran Turismo.

The former pop star, 50, attended a photocall for the new movie, which follows the true story of a young video game prodigy who turned into a real race car driver.

She was joined by her co-star Orlando Bloom, who was looking smart in a white suit with green and blue spray marks down both sides with no top underneath.

Geri, who is married to Formula One boss Christian Horner, was sporting her trademark white clothes – comprising tight trousers and a sleeveless blouse.

Geri looked stunning in her white ensemble comprising the tight jeans and blouse with a thin black ribbon at the neck.

Her appearance in the film – in which she plays the lead character’s mother – is poignant thanks to her connection with car racing, through her husband Christian, who is the Team Principle of the Red Bull Formula One team.

Other acting credits for Geri also include her appearance as Samantha’s friend Phoebe in season six, in which her English accent was mocked.

The film tells the true story of Jann Mardenborough, who in 2011 became the third winner of the GT Academy, and the youngest ever to do so at just 19 years of age.

Despite never sitting in an actual race car, he beat out 90,000 contestants to win GT Academy, winning a chance to race at the Dubai 24 Hour race.

Archie Madekwe plays Jann Mardenborough, with Djimon Hounsou playing his father, Geri, his mother, Orlando Bloom as Danny Moore, a character based on real GT Academy founder Darren Cox and David Harbour as Jann’s trainer, Jack Salter.

The film hails from director Neill Blomkamp (District 9), who works from a script by Zach Baylin (Creed III), Will Dunn (Ms. Marvel) and Jason Hall (American Sniper), in theaters August 11.

In 1997, the Gran Turismo video game was released in Japan by Polyphony and Yamauchi. The creators revolutionized the racing game genre by creating an incredibly authentic driving simulation game.

The company released their latest and best game — Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 — during last spring.

The film will be officially released and shown in theaters on August 11, 2023.
