A spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told reporters that they have not been able to locate the star and they have switched "efforts into a search and recovery operation".
Sergeant Kevin Donoghue has since provided an update as he revealed there is CCTV footage from the dock that shows the Glee star's rented boat departing.
According to Mirror Online he also explained that it could be weeks before the body is found as he said: "If the body is entangled on something beneath the water, it may never come back up."
He continued: "There's no way to really say. We're putting our best foot forward to try and locate her, we're using all the assets that are available to us, we're using technology like sonar."
Sergeant Donoghue said that experts involved in the search for Naya know the lake "inside and out" and are doing everything they can.
"We're relying on their expertise to help us in that endeavour. We're going to do everything that we can to find her," he said.
