Gordon Ramsay accused of hypocrisy over resurfaced grilled lettuce clip
TikToker Nick Doty uploaded a video on November 22 putting chef Gordon Ramsay on the spot over a resurfaced episode titled “Park’s Edge” from February 2012.
In the episode, Ramsay expressed disbelief at finding a grilled Caesar salad on the menu of a restaurant he visited in Inman Park, Georgia, which he labelled as “hideous.”
He questioned a server if it was a misprint, and upon confirmation that lettuce was indeed grilled, Ramsay appeared dumbfounded, ordering the unconventional dish.
Upon the arrival of the grilled Caesar salad, Ramsay expressed being “shocked” and emphasised his surprise by tapping his glass to capture the attention of fellow diners, asking them to raise their hands if they had ever experienced a grilled Caesar salad before.
The diners laughed and shook their heads in response. Subsequently, Ramsay physically and verbally deconstructed the dish, chopping it up on the plate and describing it as “hideous.”

Later in the same episode, Ramsay was shown standing in the kitchen with the staff, reiterating to the chef who had prepared the grilled salad that the concept of grilling a salad was “hideous.”
The clips of Ramsay critiquing the dish have gained huge traction online.
On TikTok alone, the related search term has amassed 11.3 million views, with numerous users sharing and resharing the scene. On YouTube, the clip has garnered 28 million views.
In a sarcastic tone, Doty commented in his video: “Obviously grilling lettuce is repugnant. No self-respecting chef would ever put that on their restaurant menu, right?”
He then shifted his tone and questioned why Ramsay had later created a similar dish if he found the idea repugnant.

In 2017, Fox Sports reported that Ramsay took on the role of “the official Daytona Day chef” for the 59th NASCAR race event, Daytona 500.
The outlet detailed the menu reportedly crafted by the chef, highlighting a grilled romaine salad.
The recipe instructions advised to “brush segments of romaine with olive oil and place cut side down on the grill for about 2 minutes each side.”
In his video, Doty highlighted this segment of the menu, urging Ramsay to apologise to the chef he had earlier ridiculed for grilling lettuce.
