The actor famous for his Wolverine portrayal in the ‘X-Men’ film series opens up in new interview about what started his ongoing online war with the ‘Deadpool’ star more than a decade ago.
AceShowbiz –Scarlett Johansson was apparently behind the decade-old trolling between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. When asked about the origin of their ongoing online feud in a new interview, the actor famous for his Wolverine portrayal in the “X-Men” film series spilled how the then-wife of the “Deadpool” star played a part in it.
Speaking to The Daily Beast about the matter, the 51-year-old Hollywood actor initially claimed to be struggling to remember the specifics. “How did it start? It’s gone back so long now,” he began. “God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone too long, where you don’t even know why or how it started!”
The “Logan” star then recalled his first meeting with his frenemy, noting that the latter was at the time married to the “Black Widow” actress. “I met him back on ‘Wolverine’, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett, and Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, ‘Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching,’ ” he shared.
“And we started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the ‘Deadpool’ thing and him calling me out, and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted,” the P.T. Barnum of “The Greatest Showman” added in amusement.
Rousing Jackman was exactly what Reynolds attempted to do a few days back. When the “Les Miserables” actor took to Instagram to celebrate his 24 years of marriage to actress/producer Deborra-Lee Furness with loving words, the “Green Lantern” star poked fun at his romantic attempt by simply commenting, “Hang in there, Deb.”
Asked if he is “planning a retaliatory strike” to Reynolds’ jab, Jackman casually responded, “I try to limit it to five hours a day, planning retribution.” Claiming to have learned from his experiences in the past “that it just gets unhealthy if it’s more than five hours of obsessing over how to get Ryan Reynolds,” he added, “But five hours is good and healthy and keeps me strong and ready.”
