James Bond star Tanya Roberts’ cause of death revealed as urinary tract infection that spread to organs

Tanya Roberts died from a urinary tract infection that spread to her organs, her agent has confirmed.

The Bond girl passed away aged 65 at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on 4 January, just 24 hours after Mike Pingel mistakenly announced her death.

The actress' agent Pingel has now released a further a statement, explaining that Tanya's death was caused by complications to an infection she had.

"With a heavy heart I can confirm the death of Tanya Roberts (age 65) last night on January 4, 2021 around 9:30pm PT at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA," he wrote.

Her representative continued: "Her 18-year domestic partner Lance O'Brien received the phone call from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last night at their home confirming her passing.

"Roberts' cause of death was from a urinary tract infection which spread to her kidney, gallbladder, liver and then blood stream.

"Today, January 5, 2021 at 10:00am PT, O'Brien picked up Roberts' personal possessions from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center."

He went on: "Roberts was an animal rights activist. In lieu of flowers, they are asking for donations to be given in Roberts name to the ASPCA.

"An online memorial for Tanya Roberts will be announced shortly. The family ask for privacy as they mourn her death."

Tanya collapsed on Christmas Eve after saying she didn't feel well and was put on a ventilator as her health got worse.

Lance believed Tanya had passed away on Sunday and is said to have "walked out of the hospital and never spoke to medical staff."

He then contacted her agent Mike, who sent out a press release to announce her death. But in a bizarre turn of events, Lance received a phone call from the hospital confirming she was still alive, while he was in the middle of filming an interview for Inside Edition.

A video clip showed his shocked face as he said: "Now, you are telling me she's alive?"

Speaking to the interviewer, Lance sobbed as he continued: "The hospital is telling me she is alive. They are calling me from the ICU team."

Attempting to explain the confusion, Lance told The Sun: "I turn around and she's completely passed out cold.

"I thought that was that, she wasn't going to recover. So when I came down the elevator I was distraught, I was lost, I was completely discombobulated. There was nobody there to guide me. I called her publicist Mike Pingel and said I just said goodbye to Tanya," he explained.

Tanya was best known for starring as Bond girl Stacey Sutton alongside Roger Moore in A View To Kill.

Her career spanned over three decades, and she also starred in the final season of Charlie's Angels in 1980, as well as posing for Playboy.
