Joan Collins recalls having to hide in a cupboard from a film producer

Dame Joan Collins has recalled an inappropriate encounter with a producer when she was a young actress starting out in Hollywood.

On tonight’s edition of The Graham Norton Show the 90-year-old reveals how the man in question asked her to join him in the bath when she went to meet him.

“It was really difficult. Thanks to the Me Too movement it has all come out into the open now and I think young people are having a better chance of not having to face that,” the veteran star ruminated.

“One experience I had was being asked to meet a producer who was in the bath,” she recollected.

“He definitely wasn’t playing with his rubber duck when he asked me to get in with him,” she quipped. “When I refused, I was asked to leave, and I didn’t get the part!”

The then 24-year-old Joan refused his advances, something she admits made it awkward on set.

“He barely spoke to me for the rest of the production. He was horrible up close – all pimply and pock-marked skin. I never really saw what [Liz] Taylor saw in him,” she said.
