Jody Cundy’s Strictly partner opens up on worry with their partnership
Jody Cundy talks about his upcoming appearance on Strictly
Cycling world champion Jody Cundy, 44, will take to the dance floor for the first time this weekend with his Strictly Come Dancing partner Jowita Przystal.
Ahead of their debut, the professional dancer revealed she was nervous about her new partnership and spilled on her plan to get Jody far in the competition.
Jowita, 29, said she didn’t want to let the Paralympian down and had “a lot of ideas” to bring out his best ability.
The dancer made her confession during the launch show, where viewers got to see the pairings for the first time.
Speaking to host Tess Daly, Jody said he doesn’t think his journey will be easy, despite being used to hard work and performing in front of a crowd.

He said: “I’m a complete newbie at this, I had years and years of practice at the other ones so we’ll see what happens… let’s shoot for the stars.”
Jowita’s worries come following her triumph with 2022 contestant Hamza Yassin.
The dancer made history as the show’s first female professional to win with a celebrity on the show in her debut year.
Speaking of their victory, she said the most important thing about a dance partnership was “trust” as she reflected on their lifts.
On winning, she added on The One Show: “I still can’t believe it to be honest, it’s not about me, it’s all about Hamza.

“Meeting him at the lighthouse, I felt in my bones it was going to be great.
“I was already picturing what we’d be like on the show. We worked so well together from the first moment.”
BBC star Hamza has since thrown his support behind Jowita and Jody ahead of their debut this weekend.
As part of a lengthy post on Instagram, he said: “I hope this years strictly will be even more fun and I will be here supporting you and your new dance partner every step of the way.
“Hopefully one day we will get the chance to dance again. Sending you my love and energy for the year ahead.” (sic)
Meanwhile, Jody shared an update about his progress with their first dance this week.
Alongside a picture of the pair, he said: “It’s gonna be awesome, I just need to remember the steps, not act so wooden and smile. But I have faith, she’s a brilliant teacher, and has so much patience and faith in me that I can do it!”
Jody also said he was keen to impress his wife-to-be Lucy Bowles, whom he proposed to in New York last year.
The world champion hopes the show will boost his confidence enough to join in with dances at home with her and his stepkids.
He added of his other reasons for doing the show: “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, you don’t get to do it every year. People don’t get asked to do this all of the time.
“This isn’t a Paralympic year, so it’s a way of kind of promoting disabilities, promoting myself and getting myself out there in the public eye.”
Strictly Come Dancing kicks off tonight at 6.35pm on BBC One.
