Kate Garraway spoke candidly about the financial “complications” she has suffered while appearing on Good Morning Britain. The mother-of-two discussed the emotional trauma of dealing with her husband Derek Draper’s health while still managing the family home.

The 53-year-old broke down in tears during her appearance on Good Morning Britain yesterday, as she detailed a multitude of issues she recently faced.

Kate revealed that the family car had been stolen and during the same time period her bathroom had a leak causing the kitchen to flood.

She has now explained that the financial side is also becoming a problem for her, as Derek remains in hospital.

The GMB presenter said that her other half’s name is on all the bills and insurance policies, leaving Kate finding it challenging to speak about them as she is not the named person on the documentation.

Speaking on GMB, Kate admitted she “can’t get access to things” which is becoming a major issue.

“One of the practical problems – which a lot of people would’ve experienced if they’ve got the absence of someone in their life – like many things the car is entirely in Derek’s name, the insurance is in Derek’s name, a lot of our bank accounts,” the ITV host explained.

“There are a lot of financial goings that I’ve talked to you both about going on, which is making life very complicated because I can’t get access to things.”

The broadcaster revealed that she is not “power of attorney” which further complicates issues.

Kate continued: “Because legally I haven’t got power of attorney.

“And all this other stuff that goes on when you’re dealing with a situation where someone’s been sick for a long time.”

The news comes as Kate also revealed the issues she and her family faced over the past few days.

Her Volvo has been stolen from outside of her home, with GMB host Piers Morgan calling the culprits “disgusting scumbags”.

Speaking about the incident, Kate said: “Initially I thought it’s bound to be an unpaid parking ticket that Derek hasn’t been able to sort out while out of action since March and it’s probably gone through a system and it’s been impounded – but it’s actually been stolen.”

Piers angrily responded: “Let me get this straight.

“Some little scumbag or scumbags have come to your house and stolen your car when you’re going through what you’re going through.

“It is absolutely disgusting. If you know someone who has this car… It makes me puke that someone has done this.”

He added: “We’ll get your car situation fixed today.”

Kate recently opened up about a “breakthrough” in Derek’s recovery as she confirmed he had spoken his first words.

The GMB host watched him over FaceTime mouth the words “pain” after he was being moved by medical staff.

Kate admitted she is remaining hopeful following the progress her other half has made.
