Katherine Ryan issues permission waiver and hires security to search bags for daughter’s party
Katherine Ryan has shared the measures she's taken to ensure her daughter Violet's Hallowen party is safe and all guests know what "the expectations are" in her house, revealing she's asked all parents to sign a permission waiver for their children and also hired security to search bags.
The comedian, 40, has been getting ready for 14 year old Violet's upcoming Halloween bash, which will be hosted at Katherine's home, and she's wrote up a waiver to ensure everyone is well behaved and Violet's friends' parents are aware of what's happening at the party.
"I prepared a document. I just think in this day and age, with liabilities and having all these kids in my house, I want to send a really clear message to them, when they're 14, what the expectations are in my house," she told fans on Instagram.
The mum-of-three, who also shares son Fred, two, and daughter Fenna Grace, nine months, with husband Bobby Kootstra, continued: "And also, I think it's a good message to the parents to know that if I expect this form signed by a parent with the parent's phone number, then they know that I'm not the kind of mum that allows drinking or vaping or anything else. Those parents are going to go 'oh, if this mum's making me sign this, I feel safe sending my kid there'."
Katherine went on to read out the permission waiver, which states that she does not "tolerate any illegal behaviour" and all guests will have their bags searched at the door, where a guest list will also be in place.
"Permission waiver. The children are very welcome in our home/garden/pool and we do want them to enjoy themselves and be able to gather in a safe environment for a party. However….my husband and I feel that it's necessary to collect signed permission waivers from all parents of children attending any party in our home," she said.
Sharing the contents of the form, Katherine continued: "This acknowledges that we will not tolerate any illegal behaviour. At 14 and 15 years old, illegal behaviour includes drinking alcohol, vaping, any sexual activity, assault, vandalism.
"Anyone found to be participating in any illegal behaviour will be asked to leave and parents called. By signing this waiver you acknowledge responsibility for your child in our home and further acknowledge that you have spoken to them about having bag searches and guest list checks at the door."
She said she hired a private security firm for her "piece of mind". The waiver ended with: "If any time your child feels unsafe please encourage them to find me in the house, or approach someone from the security team."
Comedian Katherine admitted the permission form felt "like a lot" but she said she wanted to be clear about her "expectations" for Violet's party, incase the teen wants to hold any more in the future.
