Kevin Clifton hints at upcoming project with girlfriend Stacey Dooley after Strictly exit

Kevin Clifton, 37, announced his decision to quit Strictly Come Dancing after seven years on the show back in March. The professional dancer has now appeared to hint at a new project with his girlfriend Stacey Dooley, 33, in an intriguing Instagram post.

Kevin shared a photo with his 375,000 followers which showed him leaning on a piano in a rehearsal room, while Stacey stood behind professional camera equipment.

The documentary filmmaker was seen wearing headphones, as she appeared to be directing her beau in the snap.

Kevin did not provide any further information about what he and Stacey were getting up to in the photo.

The Ballroom and Latin dancer’s post comes after he informed fans that his first project outside of Strictly would be starring in Strictly Ballroom: The Musical, which will be directed by his former co-star Craig Revel Horwood.

Kevin described the new move as his “dream role” in a statement.

He gushed: “I’m beyond excited to be finally fulfilling a lifelong ambition to play Scott Hastings in Strictly Ballroom The Musical.

“When I was 10 years old I first watched the movie that would become my favourite film of all time.

“This is my dream role. Plus I get to work with Craig Revel Horwood again! I really can’t wait to don the golden jacket and waltz all over the UK from September this year in what’s set to be an incredible show!”

Currently, Kevin is self-isolating with his partner Stacey due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Stacey recently opened up to Steph McGovern about how the couple are spending their time in lockdown.

The presenter got onto the subject on The Steph Show when she was quizzed about her glamorous outfit in one of her Instagram posts from home.

She explained: “My pal messaged me saying, ‘Oh can you and Kev give us a ballroom lesson?’ and I [said], ‘Yeah no hassle.'”

The Strictly winner added: “So I put the dress on, really went for it, moved the table out the way and Kev was sort of poking fun at me he was saying, ‘Stace you’re talking to them like you’ve been teaching ballroom 20 years!'”

Elsewhere, Stacey spoke about Kevin’s surprising reaction to a new item in her wardrobe.

During an appearance on Susannah Constantine’s My Wardrobe Malfunction podcast, she was asked by the What Not To Wear presenter: “You know how we like to wear things that our partners or boyfriends hate? What does Kev hate you in?”

Stacey then divulged in response: “On the whole he’s actually very sweet and he says, ‘You look the part Stace,’ and he really entertains me if I’ve bought something new, he says, ‘Oh let me see, give us a twirl’, he pretends he cares.

“But there’s this pair of sandals that I am completely in love with, like a real treat.

“I got them in duty free, the Chanels, the velcro sandals and I was walking about the house in them just so made up.”

However, her boyfriend didn’t share in her enthusiasm for the item.

She continued: “And he was like, ‘Stacey they are so horrendous. My nan who used to take us to Grimsby, Cleethorpes Beach, she had a pair very similar from Shoe Zone.’

“And he was like, ‘You could have just asked and I’d have hooked you up. You’ve just fallen for the branding, you’re such a consumer.’”
