MAFS’ Marilyse Corrigan ‘living a nightmare’ as mum is diagnosed with cancer
Married At First Sight star Marilyse Corrigan has given a heartbreaking update to fans this week as she revealed that her mum has been diagnosed with cancer.
The reality personality, who appeared on the 2021 series, shared pictures of her mum, who she dubs her 'best friend', to Instagram this week – admitting that she is 'living a nightmare' during the medical battle.
Penning a heartfelt caption, she shared her pride while detailing the close-knit bond of her family. "So incredibly proud of my beautiful best friend, my Mumma….I’ve not been myself recently and my family have been having a really hard time, one that I never thought would ever happen," began Marilyse.
"For the past few weeks we have been living a nightmare undergoing scans tests and all sorts to get to the bottom of what’s wrong with her. Having had cancer affect my dad when we were just kids, you really don’t expect it to happen again.
"But it is, effecting her stomach and other areas. Life can really challenge and test you. Unexpectedly. Without any warning. You can’t take anything for granted. But as a close family unit we will make sure we do what we can to make my Mum okay."
She concluded: "Yesterday mum was dreading having her endoscopy from a bad experience years ago and thanks to the lovely doctor who breezed mum through it, she didn’t feel a thing. For that I am proud of her."
Marilyse rose to fame on the E4 show, which is set to return for an explosive series this year and pairs singles together based on a social experiment, when she tied the knot with co-star Franky Spencer.
The newlyweds made it all the way through the show and even embarked on a relationship outside, but called time on the relationship just a matter of months later.
She then hit headlines shortly after the most recent series of MAFS as she embarked on a relationship with Matt Murray, a controversial star of the 2022 season.
The duo confirmed they were in a relationship in October last year, but revealed in March that they had called time on their relationship due to being 'too different'.
During the 2022 season, Matt was partnered with Gemma Rose, 30, but quickly left her for co-star Whitney Hughes, 31, in what was considered to be a 'wife swap' drama.
Despite declaring their love and Matt even getting a tattoo for Whitney, the pair had fizzled out by the time of the reunion episode, with Matt then going on to his short-lived romance with Marilyse.
