Marion Ramsey was a 73-year-old actress who was known for her roles in the Broadway hit Eubie! and Police Academy. 

News of her death was announced on January 7, 2021, and she died at her LA home. 

Her death was announced by her management team and an official cause has not yet been announced, although the actress had been ill over the past few days before her death. 

The stage and screen star was born in Philadelphia, and one of her first acting roles was in Hello, Dolly! 

Her TV debut was in 1976, when she had a guest appearance on sitcom The Jeffersons.

In the same year she became a regular cast member on the comedy series Cos.

Tributes have been paid to the star on Twitter, with one fan saying: “Very sad to hear that Marion Ramsey has died aged 73.

“She starred as Officer Laverne Hooks in the Police Academy series. I had the opportunity to meet Marion once, and she was lovely.”
