Mark Labbett, who is best known as The Beast on The Chase, took to Twitter and offered some words of advice to recent ITV newcomer Darragh Ennis, 40, amid his upcoming debut at the National Television Awards (NTA) 2021. It comes as the quizmasters spin-off show Beat The Chasers has been nominated in the Best Quiz Show category.

The brainiacs including Mark, Darragh, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, and Jenny Ryan will go up against Celebrity Catchphrase, In For A Penny, and Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel.

The 56-year-old has since offered some advice to his co-star ahead of his debut at tonight’s ceremony.

It comes after Darragh took to the micro-blogging site and urged viewers to tune into the new episodes of Beat The Chasers.

In view of his 19,100 followers, the ITV quizzer penned: “Who can beat all six of us? New #BeatTheChasers starts Saturday at 8.30 on @ITV.”

Mark took the opportunity to respond to his colleague’s tweet, as he urged him to not get in the way of the microphone on stage.

“Enjoy your first #NTAwards and don’t get between our producer and the mic if we win,” he tweeted, in view of his 141,000 followers.

Darragh cheekily responded: “If you couldn’t stop them what chance do I have?”

Mark added: “Find the Potato Sky Box. If we win, the booze will be flowing.”

The Chase favourite later took to the micro-blogging site and explained he will not be in attendance at tonight’s ceremony.

He cheekily blamed his co-star and pal Anne for being a bad influence.

“Sorry I won’t be at the NTAs tonight. I am having a quiet night in, my liver cannot cope with drinking at @anne_hegerty pace,” Mark commented.

Anne replied with a laughing emoji.

Mark admitted that the ITV favourite had his full support after sharing a short video.

He captioned the post: “My neutral opinion on the best presenter award for tonight’s #NTAwards.”

Mark said in the clip: “Yes, for tonight’s NTAs… go Bradley!”

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as one said: “Deserves a lifetime achievement IMO.”(sic)

Another remarked: “Great minds,” while a third added: “Yes.”

The presenter will be up against This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond, Piers Morgan, and Ant and Dec.

The National Television Awards airs tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
