Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes has said it’s “pathetic” that she hasn’t been able to overcome her weight problems, branding it a “major failure” on her part.

The 82-year-old star, who suffers from spinal stenosis as a result, has predicted she will “be in a wheelchair before I’m much older” in a candid admission.

According to the NHS, spinal stenosis is a term used to describe a narrowing of the spinal canal, which may cause compression of the spinal nerves, resulting in back pain or leg pain.

Miriam has confessed to indulging in treats like cheesecakes and fudge at a time when she should have been focusing on her health.

Speaking with Elizabeth Day on her How To Fail podcast, she opened up about her worsening medical issues.

She said: “The one thing I have not conquered and should have conquered is my weight. I am a blubber mass. I am fat. And to be fat and 82 is truly pathetic.”

She added: “It’s such a defeat. A cream bun, a chocolate, a helping of chopped liver is more important than your health and aesthetic presentation?

“No it isn’t more important, it’s just greed, lack of discipline, all the things I’m embarrassed by in myself.

“It is a major failure and because of that I’ve got spinal stenosis, I can’t walk, I’m going to be in a wheelchair before I’m much older,” she lamented.

“I’ve limited my life because of my longing for fudge or chopped liver, cheesecake. All these absurdities, I shouldn’t have been so greedy, have been stronger.

“I f**k everything up by greed and I think it’s shameful,” she added.

Miriam went on to state her “regret” over her “laziness and greed”.

“I would like to be better looking, I would like to have a flatter tummy, and a stronger back and longer legs. But f**k it, here I am,” she stated boldly.
