Strictly Come Dancing pro Neil Jones has spoken out about his experience in the first national lockdown last year and how he put weight while not working. This time round the professional dancer plans to work out to keep the pounds off.

Earlier today, the single 38-year-old took to Instagram to share a half-naked snap, as he spoke about how he is tackling lockdown number three.

He told his 233,000 followers that he was “staying active” and trying to eat healthily after dining on lots of takeaways in early 2020.

The dancer, who had work cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic last year, said he had put on weight but was now back on track after starring in the most recent series of Strictly.

Although he did not have a celebrity partner on the show, Neil was involved in the group dances for the popular BBC programme.

Alongside two topless selfies, Neil said he was feeling positive with his progress.

“During the first lockdown I put on a lot of weight due to takeaways and not working out but this year it’s a new me and I am staying active every day with the help of @perium.fitness and my push up bar plus trying to eat more healthy.

“I’m nowhere near where I want to be but I’m feeling positive and excited about the progress so far. #healthymind #healthybody #perium #gifted #fitness,” he signed off.

Many took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts.

“You look great. Keep going,” one encouraging follower remarked.

“Look great,” another added.

“Wow,” a third simply said.

“More photos like this please @mr_njonesofficial,” a fourth fan wrote.

As well as working out at home, Neil has also been hosting online dance classes.

Every morning he shares a free 15 minute lesson to get people up and moving.

Earlier today, he taught a Charleston routine and tomorrow he will teach the Jive.

One former Strictly contestant made an amusing appearance in the comments section of his post.

“Join me every morning for your 15min free class today we danced the charleston and tomorrow we have a jive,” Neil captioned his social media video.

Tennis coach Judy Murray, who took part in the ballroom dancing contest back in 2014, joked that she had already “mastered” the dance.

“Nah. I mastered that a few years ago,” she teased.
