Kim Kardashian West turned the milestone age of 40 last week and celebrated with family and friends on a private island. The reality star explained to fans that all members of her party had quarantined for two weeks and had “multiple health” screenings in order for her birthday celebrations to go ahead safely during the coronavirus pandemic.
The mother-of-three was joined by her family members and close friends including her mum Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie and Kendall on a private island.
On what she got up to celebrate her big day, she told her millions of followers: “We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more.
“I realise that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40.”
She added: “Before COVID, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment.”
Kim’s post sparked a mixed reaction from social media users, including Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 55.
The outspoken presenter shared the star’s thread of tweets, in view of his 7.6 million followers.
He wrote: “This thread is so repulsive it makes me want to vomit.
“Not that we needed confirmation but what a spoiled, tone-deaf imbecile.”
Many of Piers’ followers flocked to his post to comment.
One user wrote: “I’m no fan but there is no need to hate for the sake of it.
“There is enough going on in the world for me not to think about the Kardashians at all.”
A second commented: “I completely agree with you Piers…. considering all that’s happening in the world this post from @KimKardashian is actually rather distasteful…. money clearly makes you exempt from the pandemic.”
A third penned: “Didn’t mind it to be fair.
“Her posts seem humble enough and she appears to be having good (and safe) times with her family. All fair in my eyes.”
It’s not the first time Piers has criticised the popular Kardashian.
Back in September, the father-of-four took a swipe at Kin after she backed a viral #StopHateForProfit social media freeze.
The online protest was to raise awareness for social media’s attitude towards online hate speech.
Kim wrote at the time: “I can’t sit by and stay silent while these platforms continue to allow the spreading of hate, propaganda and misinformation — created by groups to sow division and split America apart — only to take steps after people are killed…
“Misinformation shared on social media has a serious impact on our elections and undermines our democracy.”
In response to her post, Piers wrote: “Quit permanently if you care that much, but you won’t because they make you too much money.”
He has also branded her “selfish and reckless” in the past for her handling of husband Kanye West’s mental health battle.
