Vernon Kay, 45, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, 50, has reportedly signed up for this year’s line-up of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. The former All-Stars Family Fortune host has left “everyone so pleased” and will be “perfect” for the programme this Autumn, according to an insider.

Everyone’s so pleased.

The BBC Radio DJ is said to have been approached to be one of the campmates for the past two years.

It is said the presenter’s deal could be worth £250,000, according to The Mirror.

A source commented: “Everyone’s so pleased to have Vernon on board, he’s a lovely guy, full of down-to-earth northern charm and perfect for the show.”

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for ITV and Vernon Kay for comment.

It would mean that if Vernon appears in the jungle this Autumn, his wife Tess will be hosting Strictly alongside Claudia Winkleman at the same time.

It comes after Vernon opened up about reconnecting with his spouse of over 16 years during the coronavirus lockdown.

Speaking on the Humans of XS Manchester podcast, Vernon shared how he has embraced lockdown as he’s been able to spend more time with his family.

Vernon and Tess, who tied the knot in 2003, have two daughters, Phoebe, 15, and Amber, 11.

The ITV presenter discussed: “At first it took a lot of getting used to because we do enjoy our freedoms, the simple things like just nipping to the shop or going out for a beer with your mates and general social gatherings that you take for granted and once they’ve gone you think, ‘Right, what am I going to do?’

“The positive thing is that it’s enabled us as a family to really get to know each other even better than you would as a family.”

Vernon went on to explain how busy things are for their family on a daily basis.

“When you think about it when you’re in a relationship, a working relationship, you wake up, you go to work, you get back and you have your dinner, kids doing their homework, you go to bed,” he continued.

“So you only really see each other for four or five hours in a day, if that.”

However, when the UK Government enforced the nationwide lockdown on March 23, Vernon said it gave him, Tess and their daughters some time to “reconnect”.

“When you’re in lockdown and you’re spending 24/7 with each other it really gives you the chance to really kind of reconnect and get to know each other better, not better, but you really get under the skin of your relationships with your kids and your missus.”

Meanwhile, Tess has been keeping herself busy with some gardening during her time away from work.

The BBC host, who has been enjoying her first crop of strawberries and raspberries from her “experimental garden”, shared a selfie last month, to be honest about how lockdown has affected her.

Tess wrote to her 517,000 Instagram followers: “Good morning beautiful people. Just checking in saying hi and wondering how it’s already Friday?

“Is it just me or does time seem to fly by even MORE quickly when you’ve got so much more of it on your hands.”

She continued: “Still struggling a bit with the disconnection from my usual routines and the unpredictability of everything at the moment; but have also been focusing on using the time productively and positively (yoga, writing, cleansing the home, cleansing my mind with meditation, tutoring, den making, and occasional kitchen dancing…) and keeping the faith that brighter days are hopefully just around the corner.”
