The Weeknd is completely unrecognizable underneath bandages covering his face while on stage at the 2020 American Music Awards, which is airing on Sunday (November 22) and taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The 30-year-old singer won the award for Favorite Album – Soul/R&B for After Hours, beating out Doja Cat‘s Hot Pink and Summer Walker‘s Over It.
During his speech, The Weeknd dedicated the award to Prince, who previously presented the same award to him at a previous year’s show.
The Weeknd‘s look is part of his new era of music and he wore the bandages during his performance with Kenny G from a location in downtown L.A.
We also have photos of The Weeknd wearing the bandages on a video set from earlier this month. It’s possible that set was for the pre-taped performance.
A couple months ago, he was covered with bruises for another awards show appearance.
