Tom Ellis, 42, who married his second wife Meaghan Oppenheimer, 35, in 2019, admitted he made a mistake on the couple’s second date. The actor, who is best known for his leading role in Lucifer, made the admission in a candid new interview.
The small-screen star revealed the words, “I love you” slipped out by mistake in the early days of their relationship.
However, Tom seemingly does not have any regrets as the couple realised they were meant to be together.
The Welsh-born actor was quizzed if he had ever said the magic three words to a significant other and not meant it.
Tom admitted it was true, as he dished all the details.
“I actually said it to my wife Meaghan on our second date – it just slipped out,” he told the Guardian.
Tom added: “But it came to be.”
The couple recently celebrated their second anniversary after tying the knot in 2019.
The Lucifer actor marked the occasion by sharing a sweet throwback photo on Instagram.
The picture showed the couple with their arms around each other as they stood on a wooden pier next to a river.
Tom wore a black suit while Meaghan was a beautiful bride in a boho lace wedding dress.
The caption read: “Happy anniversary to my missing jigsaw piece. I love you more and more @moppyoppenheimer.”
Meaghan sweetly replied: “Love you so much baby!!!!!”

Tom also revealed the last time he cried and shared it was saying goodbye to his children – Nora Ellis, Florence Elsie Ellis and Marnie Mae Ellis.
Nora is his first child from his relationship with his former partner Estelle Morgan.
He shares his other two daughters, who live in the UK, with his ex-wife Tamzin Outhwaite.
Tom was married to the EastEnders actor from 2006 until 2014.
Speaking to the same publication, he spoke about getting emotional after spending time with his children.
He said: “[The last time I cried] was a couple of days ago, saying goodbye to my children.”
