Brie Larson’s latest project with Apple TV+, Lessons in Chemistry, is already a highly-anticipated release thanks to the popularity of the book on which the new series is based.
Released in 2022, Lessons in Chemistry is the debut novel from author Bonnie Garmus and was an instant hit with book fans. The novel follows chemist Elizabeth Zott in the 1950s and into the 1960s. Zott is a headstrong woman with agency and a sharp sense of humor who is trying to make her way in a male-dominated field. When she meets the man who she falls in love with, she has no plans to be a regular housewife.

However, when a terrible accident leaves Zott alone with a daughter to raise, her story changes completely. She becomes the host of her own cooking show and commands a female audience who welcome her non-patronizing, progressive style of work along with her scientific approach to cooking.
But when it becomes apparent that Zott isn’t just teaching women to cook, those who would rather the status quo remain the same are not too happy with her.
Lessons in Chemistry is available on Amazon for $14.60, 50% off the list price. It’s available on Kindle for $14.99.
The Apple TV+ series is set to release on October 13. Larson stars as Zott, a perfect fit for an actor known for playing strong female characters. Lewis Pullman plays Calvin Evans, the chemist Zott falls for. How to Get Away With Murder star Aja Naomi King plays the fiery Harriet Slone, an impactful character in Zott’s life.
At the helm of the project is seven-time Emmy Award-nominee Lee Eisenberg of WeCrashed and Little America who serves as showrunner. Academy Award-nominee Susannah Grant, best known for Unbelievable and Erin Brockovich, executive produces alongside Larson, Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman.
