Joe Lycett throws his name into the hat to replace suspended GB News presenters

Joe Lycett is jumping on a career opportunity in light of the recent GB News controversy, which saw two of its presenters suspended.

On Dan Wootton’s GB News show on Tuesday evening, former actor Laurence Fox made a series of vile remarks about female reporter Ava Evans, known as Ava Santina on X, formerly Twitter, including asking: ‘Who would want to shag that?’

Ofcom received over 7,000 complaints, and have launched an investigation into the episode which has resulted in both parties being suspended from the broadcaster.

Spotting a vacancy, 35-year-old comedian Joe appears to have leapt at the chance to present to the nation (he is joking, obviously).

‘I have instructed my management to inform @GBNEWS bosses that I am available to replace any of their suspended presenters,’ he quipped on X this evening.

We have a sneaky suspicion the comedian might not be quite be serious about his application, given his past live TV appearances.

Perhaps his most memorable moment in recent history came when Joe pretended to be a Tory in a live TV appearance laced with sarcasm, leaving his fans in absolute bits.

Asked by Laura Laura Kuenssberg about the strength of Liz Truss’ position back in September last year, Joe responded: ‘I think the haters will say that we’ve had 12 years of the Tories and that we’re sort of at the dregs of what they’ve got available and that Liz Truss is the backwash of the available MPs.

‘I wouldn’t say that because I’m incredibly right wing, but some people might say that.’

He continued the façade, leaving people congratulating his ‘grade-A trolling.’

Quite apart from getting a broadcasting job at GB News, Joe is currently busy with an art exhibition in which some of his most famous hilarious paintings are on display in the heart of Covent Garden.

One of these is the famous portrait Joe drew of Harry Styles, which the singer actually brought – and is loaning the family-ran They Made This gallery for the exhibition.

In the middle of the small gallery, a table sits with various snacks gifted to Joe by fans including items such as chocolate bars and even a single grape. Generous.
