Ken Block's 2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS Surfaces for Auction
A piece of rally racing history has hit the auction block, the 2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, famously driven by the late great Ken Block and his co-driver Alex Gelsomino.
This iconic vehicle, converted to Open Class rally racing specifications in 2006 by Vermont SportsCar, has seen a rich and eventful journey in the world of extreme motorsports.
Initially wrapped in a striking black vinyl with a #43 Monster Energy livery, the Impreza was a dominant presence in X Games rally events. Its journey continued under the stewardship of driver Mark Fox and Jake Blattner, who co-piloted the car at the New England Forest Rally in 2009.
Under the hood, the Impreza boasts a turbocharged 2.0L flat-four engine, propelling all four wheels through a sophisticated KAPS five-speed dog-box manual transmission. The car features a driver-controlled center differential, coupled with Cusco front and rear limited-slip differentials, designed to provide impeccable control and performance. Its race-prepared interior is equipped with Recaro seats, a Coralba Giant rally computer and a comprehensive safety setup, including a roll cage, fire suppression system and more.
Despite its illustrious history, the car has had its share of challenges. It suffered water damage in 2005, leading to a total loss declaration. Additionally, it has been involved in several on-track accidents, though it has been meticulously repaired since. However, for fans, the wear and tear that does remain visible only adds to the character of the vehicle and tells the story of its rigorous rally life.
The Impreza rides on gold-finished 15” Speedline Corse Rally wheels, with BFGoodrich g-force tires and features upgraded Öhlins shock absorbers and Cusco suspension components. The braking system has recently been overhauled, ensuring that it remains a formidable competitor on any terrain.
At the time of writing, the 2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, which features the autographs of both Block and Pastrana, is live via Bring A Trailer‘s auction site, with ten days left on the clock and a current highest bid of $46,000 USD.
