Kevin Abstract's 'Blanket' Is Full of Childlike Wonder
Kevin Abstract has delivered his third solo studio album, Blanket.
Clocking in at approximately 40 minutes, the 13-track album marks his first solo work since 2019’s ARIZONA BABY and the breakup of BROCKHAMPTON last year. Blanket is produced by his long-time collaborator Romil Hemnani, Jonah Abraham, Tyler Johnson, Kid Harpoon, John Carroll Kirby and Julian Ali, and hears him fuse his influences of Sunny Day Real Estate, Nirvana and Modest Mouse with vulnerable lyricism that take a deep dive into his childhood. Reminiscing his earliest memories, the record is a reminder of the wonders of youth and how there didn’t seem to be such a thing as “impossible” at the time.
“Everything is more magical back then,” Abstract shared in a statement. “Going to Disney and sleepovers, the imagination, hearing certain songs for the first time—all that stuff just feels epic.”
