Laurent Ferrier Unveils Limited-Edition Série Atelier "Sport Auto 40"
Geneva-based watchmaking house, Laurent Ferrier, has unveiled a new addition to its Série Atelier line, known as the “Sport Auto 40,” designed to celebrate the brand’s racing roots.
The limited-edition timepiece is set to be produced in an exclusive quantity of 40 pieces, inspired by the Porsche 935 Turbo number 40, which was raced in the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans by the brand’s founders, François Servanin and Laurent Ferrier.
Elements on the timepiece’s dial pay tribute to the vehicle, with its viridian green gradient and opaline finish, tied together by a fuchsia cross that draws the eyes to a unique date aperture. The number “40” decorates the small seconds dial, reminiscent of the car’s sticker but opting for a more subtle white-on-white design. Further enhancing the watches’ look are white gold indexes and hands embellished in orange Super-LumiNova.
Sporting an aerodynamically inspired design, the “Sport Auto 40” merges round curves with arched lines. The 41.5 mm grade 5 titanium case is complemented by an integrated titanium bracelet, showcasing a variety of finishes from satin-brushed to mirror-polished.
Inside the timepiece, the LF270.01 calibre makes its mark as Laurent Ferrier’s second self-winding movement with a calendar. Designed and assembled in-house, this movement boasts more than 72 hours of power reserve and is crafted to withstand impacts, for ensured longevity. Other details include a sapphire crystal case back, featuring over 139 manual finishing operations and a meticulously hand-decorated rotor bridge.
The Série Atelier “Sport Auto 40” is set to release shortly via Laurent Ferrier’s official site, at a retail price of 51,000 CHF or approximately $57,729 USD.
