Coinciding with the release of the Verdy x Minions capsule, American animation studio Illumination collaborates with Cole Bennett‘s young multimedia company Lyrical Lemonade for a special trailer.
Bennett started Lyrical Lemonade as a blog while he was still in high school, beginning his journey directing music videos for up-and-coming rappers in his home city of Chicago. His focus later expanded to other hip-hop subgenres, producing music videos for Juice Wrld‘s “Lucid Dreams,” Post Malone‘s “Motley Crew,” and Justin Bieber‘s “Honest” featuring Don Toliver just to name a few. Lyrical Lemonade’s movie trailer for Minions: The Rise of Gru, features clips of the upcoming film with the new track “Rich Minion” by Yeat playing in the background.
“Most of our fans know that we don’t do collaborations often, but when we do, it’s usually something that makes a memorable moment. I’m sure at no point did anyone ever expect Lyrical Lemonade to collaborate with the Minions, but here we are! Not only did Lyrical Lemonade founder Cole Bennett direct the trailer for the new Minions movie, but he also convinced them to have Yeat create the soundtrack to it! This is one of the most exciting moments in my time at Lyrical, this is an amazing moment and I hope that we all can take a minute to appreciate it,” wrote Elliot Montanez on behalf of Lyrical Lemonade.
Find the Minions: The Rise of Gru trailer above and look for the movie to hit theaters on July 1. Minions and Lyrical Lemonade also worked together on a merch capsule featuring letterman jackets, plushies, apparel, phone cases, prints, and scarves which quickly sold out but can be found on secondary markets.
Elsewhere, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunite for upcoming Nike film.
