Minimalism Is No More at Jil Sander SS24
Since its founding in 1968, Jil Sander‘s Luke and Lucie Meier have kept minimalism at the forefront. The brand’s customary slot on the Milan Fashion Week schedule is often mesmerizing, delivering a motocross-inspired wardrobe for Fall/Winter 2023. This season, Jil Sander strays away from its toned-down identity to provide an exquisite affair of daring silhouettes.
Spring/Summer 2024 is overwhelmed by statement-making uniforms for sophisticated soldiers, seeing co-ed looks stand on the line between formal and futurism. Oversized blazers and poplin shorts were complemented by intricate tops made from circular disks, seeing edgy schoolboys walk the runway in ribbed shirting with bedazzled collars. Leather fringes came alive on ornamented tops and maxi dresses, while exaggerated pointed accents enhanced tonal uniforms. Disformed silver circles outlined jumbo-sized punctures that revealed skin beneath, followed by an array of refined snakeskin looks.
Mockneck ruffled layering boldly amplified sealed trench coats with slashed arms, seeing abstract cat paintings stare down the audience on vibrant dresses and sweater vests. Finally, faux rhinestones decorated strapped heels and platformed loafers, completing the collection with leather bags in all shapes and sizes.
