The North Face Purple Label SS24 Merges Mountain Gear With American Prep
The North Face Purple Label’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection spans a vast spectrum of style tropes, merging functional mountain wares with preppy silhouettes and streetwear touches — and somehow makes it work. Titled “The Mountain Ivy,” the Japanese sub-label’s latest release unites the aforementioned design codes under a unified vintage aesthetic, like pervious seasons.
Purple Label blends shapes adopted from archival designs with contemporary textiles and cuts. Loungewear and leisurewear mingle with collegiate uniforms, and at the same time, adventurous, function-first designs find common ground with more pared-back pieces.
On the outerwear front, the brand selects airy materials for the warmer months, introducing several lightweight jackets and vests in nylon and cotton fabrics. Among them, an orange utility vest, featuring several zippers and pockets, starkly contrasts and Ivy-inspired varsity jacket, while casual hoodies and button-up jackets veer toward the laid-back.
Down the line, trousers and shorts are oftentimes roomy, with track pants and cargos alike opting for wide-set silhouettes. T-shirts and longsleeves are rather simple, appearing in monochromatic finishes with subtle iconography. Rounding out the line, accessories include hike-ready camouflage pouches, orange utility belts and simple caps.
