Watch the First Trailer for 'The Toxic Avenger'

The 1984 cult classic The Toxic Avenger is getting a reboot starring Peter Dinklage. Trom Entertainment has released the first gory trailer for the reimagination of the classic comedy. The Game of Thrones plays the protagonist Winston Gooze, a cleaner who calls himself the Toxic Avenger and ultimately decides to right the wrongs in society.

In the trailer, fans catch a glimpse of how the everyman-janitor, who is transformed by a horrible toxic accident into a new evolution of hero, can now wield a glowing mop to stop a ruthless and power-hungry corporate tyrant. The tyrant is bent on harnessing toxic superpowers to strengthen his polluted empire. The trailer begins with various clips of news coverage after the spout of attacks with witnesses claiming they “heard gunshots” and “saw blood” before they described the scene that saw “a handsome fella had his arm tore off like wet bread.” The news anchor goes on to announce that a “group of armed extremists, the Nasty Lads — they’ve taken hostages at a Miss Meat lunchatorium downtown.” Dinklage’s Toxic Avenger character is then introduced as the vigilante takes matters into his own hands. The film fallows Winston as he plans to rob his company after his employers refused to cover healthcare for his terminal illness. In his attempt, he falls into a toxic waste where he sustains injuries and later supernatural strength.

The Toxic Avenger is directed by Macon Blair and stars Elijah Wood, Kevin Bacon, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Jonny Coyne and Julia Davis alongside Dinklage. There has yet to be a release date for the film.
