What Is An Oscar Worthy Performance In An Otherwise Just Okay Movie?

Look, there are some movies that are just not destined to be contenders for the awards season — maybe that’s due to their genre or their style or something…else — but they contain a single performance so amazing, it’s impossible to ignore.

Like, remember when Tim Roth did the absolute MOST in Tim Burton’s 2001 Planet of the Apes. He didn’t HAVE to go THAT hard…but he sure did anyway.

So, what’s an award-worthy performance that appears in an otherwise “just okay” film? The type of performance where the actor gave it their all, despite the quality of the overall film.

For instance, maybe you were blown away by James McAvoy’s multi-faceted performance in both Split and Glass.

Or perhaps you still lose sleep at night over the fact the Viola Davis is the absolute BEST part of Suicide Squad and got zero recognition.

Heck, maybe you think Natalie Portman’s emotional portrayal of Padmé Amidala was completely overshadowed by the (accidentally) hilarious nature of the Star Wars prequels.
