Alexa Chung is the sort of cool girl we long to be like. She’s just got that stylish knack of mixing high end with high street, and making everything look luxe.
Now we’ve discovered she takes the same approach to her skincare – and it’s exactly the sort of money saving hack we love.
“I mix a cheap body lotion, such as Nivea or CeraVe, with a very expensive body oil, like rose – a high-low mix – and then slather it all over,” she has revealed in a chat with Vogue to mark her becoming the first Code8 ambassador.

Nivea’s body lotions start at a bargain £3.05 for the Dry Skin Extra Rich Moisturising formula, and the product range is currently on offer at Boots here and at Superdrug here. Alexa isn’t the first stylish celeb to rate it either, as Meghan Markle is known to be partial to the Q10 and vitamin C formula, currently £6.59 here.
If you can afford to splash out a bit more, Alexa's second option, CeraVe, will still give you change from a tenner. It's a very reasonable £9.50 a bottle and you can buy it here.

While some people might baulk at the idea of diluting posh products with high street lotions, Alexa clearly isn’t of that mindset.
“No regrets. Every night and every morning,” she says of her DIY body blend. Good girl!
As if that wasn’t reason enough to love her, Alexa reveals she’s taken her beauty regime inspiration from our all-time style icon.
“I watched Sex and the City when I was 29 and realised I should be moisturising my body because Carrie does it,” she says. “Before that I was ashy.”
Anyone who lives by the mantra “what would Carrie Bradshaw do?” is our kind of girl.
