Fashion lovers have discovered the must-have item of the Christmas season – but it’s flying off the hangers quickly in stores across the UK.

The white ‘Sequined tie-back dress’ from H&M, complete with a black bow, has blown up on social media, with fans rushing to get their hands on it for the holidays.

It costs £59.99 and made its first appearance last week, immediately becoming a favourite among customers.

One video by Jennifer Nguyen, where she shows off the dazzling dress in a fitting room, has been seen by more than 13.4 million people.

The University of Southern Denmark student captioned the clip ‘cutest holiday dress from H&M,’ meanwhile another fan in the UK posted a TikTok of the garment with the text ‘You found THE party dress of the season’.

As the sparkly outfit began popping up everywhere online, commenters have expressed their love for the fashion find – and their disappointment it’s largely sold out.

One user joked ‘Everyone’s going to have the same holiday dress on,’ alongside laughing emojis.

An employee at the Swedish clothing retailer added: ‘I work in H&M and these literally sold out in our store the day they were launched. So many people every day checking for them’.

Another chimed in with ‘As an H&M employee: please be kind! We sincerely don’t have more than the amount the store got given of this dress and top.

‘It’s not because we don’t want to help you find it. As retail workers, we get asked about it about 200 times a day in person and on the phone’.

One desperate TikTok user questioned: ‘Whereeeee??? I checked all UK stores and nothing’.

Another wrote: ‘Sold out everywhere I’m very said sad I love it,’ and someone else commented ‘CRYING bc I need this dress for my rehearsal Friday but it’s sold out everywhere’.

One lucky shopper exclaimed ‘I got this dress AND I LOVE IT’.

The dress is described on the retailers website as ‘Short, A-line dress in soft velour covered in shiny sequins.

‘Round neckline, long sleeves and a deep V-neckline at the back with a wide grosgrain ribbon that ties at the back of the neck. Jersey lining.’

There is also a jacket and a top available in the same collection, although the dress is the stand-out piece.

One TikToker reminisced: ‘Reminds me of 2016 style!! I think I had one just like that,’ while others pleaded ‘I need this in my life’ and ‘Need that dress’.

Another lucky customer added: ‘The way I ran to H&M after seeing this and got the last one they had lol’.

A different fashion fanatic, who goes by @mrs_hermes, made her own TikTok captioned  ‘This dress is EVERYTHING!!! The contrasting, “oversized” black bow looks stunning against the luxurios, ivory sequins.’

Someone commented: ‘I’m crying went to every H&M and can’t find it’ and the creator replied ‘Girl, stay strong! It will come back. Some may return them online as the fit wasn’t good for them. Be ready to grab it when it does!’

However, it’s not the first time a piece of clothing has gone viral thanks to social media – and it won’t be the last.

Last summer, a pink satin dress from Zara was dubbed ‘the look of summer 2022’ after going viral on TikTok and selling out nationwide.

The midi dress, costing £45.99, was seen on many influencers on Instagram and TIkTok, where the hashtag #ZaraPinkDress racked up more than 7.2 million views.

It featured a bustline that had been sectioned with piping, a low scoop neck, spaghetti straps and a cut-out detail on the back – with many women branding it ‘perfect’.
