The Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana has attracted its fair share of celebrities in the past, including the late Roger Moore who owned a ski chalet there.
If you’ve got deep pockets, you could follow in the movie star’s footsteps by buying a property in the resort, which offers an abundance of facilities for adventurous James Bond types.
However, you’ll need a 007 figure pay packet to afford one of the luxury Six Senses apartments that are currently for sale in Crans-Montana, which has been likened to the Holland Park of the ski world due to its understated wealth.
Six Senses Hotel in Crans-Montana has built 17 adjoining residences that overlook the ski slopes
The resort is said to ooze quiet class without being too flashy. Indeed, this is how the 17 residences that have been built adjoining the Six Senses Hotel could be described. There are now only three reportedly remaining for sale.
The price of owning a slice of this snow paradise starts at 7.5million Swiss Francs, the equivalent of £6.8million. The price is for a three-bedroom property with no interior design.
It means the cost can rise significantly for a five-bedroom flat with the interior design package by AW2, the designers who are also responsible for the hotel’s interior.
The apartments for sale are so exclusive that the only images available are computer generated images (pictured).
A home that is For Your Eyes Only
Roger Moore’s skiing was on display – along with his stunt double’s – in the Bond film For Your Eyes Only.
It was filmed in the Italian ski resort of Cortina rather than the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana.
But it was the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana that captured Roger Moore’s heart – so much so that he bought a family home there.
Roger Moore bought a chalet in Crans-Montana
MailOnline spoke exclusively to Jorg Romang, who was Roger Moore’s ski instructor and friend of 25 years.
Mr Romang said: ‘Roger was not a great skier and was just glad to get through the day on the mountains. But he was always amazing company and great fun to be with. He was my only client to ever fall off a chair on the ski lift.’
He added: ‘Their ski chalet at Crans-Montana was a real retreat for Roger and his family. It was a ski in ski out chalet and they were really happy there.’
The hotel prides itself on an eco-approach, with 100 percent of its heating and cooling requirements powered by a sustainably sourced wood pellet system. The hotel also uses seasonal local produce in its restaurant, and its alpine water is bottled on site.
And for those who want to truly indulge in the alpine spirit, there is a large – working – alpine horn at the entrance of the hotel’s underground car park.
The luxury seeps through the walls of the Six Senses set up and is highlighted by touches such as a spa for guests, who even get to choose from a ‘pillow menu’.
Those who buy one of the flats have access to all of the facilities at the hotel, including its wellness suite – which includes an ice fountain, a Finnish sauna and a yoga studio, as well as indoor pool with a suspended timber ceiling.
As well as 140 kilometres of ski pistes and a snowpark with an Olympic half-pipe, Crans-Montana boasts an ice rink (pictured) and two sports centres
With such attention to detail, what better place to return to at the end of an active day than to a luxury ski-in ski-out flat.
Whether you are skiing like James Bond – as Roger Moore and his stunt double did in the film For Your Eyes Only – or prefer to enjoy some mountain biking, ice-skating or climbing, Crans-Montana caters for a variety of sporting tastes.
As well as 140 kilometres of ski pistes and a snowpark with an Olympic half-pipe, there are four golf courses, an ice rink, two sports centres and three indoor curling sheets. It is a destination for all the family, albeit one with a Hollywood-sized bank account.
