College grad Brielle Asero who went viral after SOBBING about hardships of working her first 9-5 job furiously hits back at her ‘haters’ – insisting she was just ‘trying to be relatable’

The recent college grad who made headlines after crying about her struggles adjusting to a nine-to-five job on TikTok has responded to the hordes of haters.

Brielle Asero, 21, spoke to Rolling Stone in her own defense, telling the magazine,’ ‘I don’t even understand how this has turned into a political argument when all I was trying to do was open a conversation and be respectful towards people that work even longer hours than I do.’ 

The University of South Carolina alum posted a video earlier this month in which she bemoaned the realities of working nine to five, five days a week. On top of this, she said, was a nearly two-hour-each-way commute from her residence in New Jersey to her workplace in Manhattan.

‘Nothing to do with my job at all, but just like the nine to five schedule in general is just crazy,’ she said through tears in the original video – going on to elaborate that she found herself without the ‘energy’ to have a life beyond work.

The video has since racked up 2.6 million views and counting.

While many of her fans voice support, her message was also widely derided across right-wing media, with outlets like Fox News using the clip as evidence of her generation being ‘lazy.’ 

‘Different news stations picked up my video and painted post-grads as entitled and lazy which is far from the case,’ explained Brielle to Rolling Stone. who also made it clear she considers herself ‘lucky’ to have found a full-time job in her dream field. 

‘My student debt would make me feel guilty for not using my degree right out of college, she said.

‘I knew the schedule would be tough for me to get used to since most of my college was online due to Covid, but once I was offered this job I took it to get my foot in the door and gain experience.” 

‘I didn’t expect it to cause a media frenzy,’ she continued of the controversy-courting TikTok. ‘I was just trying to be relatable to my followers that also have to work a job with long hours.’

She went on to describe that ‘haters’ have ‘been flooding’ her personal social media accounts with ‘horrible comments. 

At this, she took a stand on behalf of her generation.

‘[Gen-Z] works just as hard as people before us, with lower salaries and higher costs of living,’ she argued.

She continued on to content that when the ‘standard work week’ became the social norm, ‘people could afford to support a family with one spouse staying home and taking care of the mental load, food, and children. 

‘But that is hardly the case anymore.

‘And most people who are mad at me are just taking out the anger they feel over the time they’ve lost working long hours,’ she emphasized.

‘I just wanted to bring people together who feel this way to possibly incite a change.’
