How far can £10 get you when playing Sun Bingo’s magical slots?
HUBBLE, bubble, toil and trouble, another Keep up with Katrina session is starting to bubble.
In the previous Keep up with Katrina, I was playing the horse-themed slots of Sun Vegas.
This week, I cast a spell on Sun Bingo to turn my £10 budget into a winnings pot by playing the magic-themed slots.

The Magic Cauldron – Enchanted Brew

There’s a special green potion brewing in the basement that may just turn players into winners.
In a purple cauldron, something’s bubbling. On the bingo board are various symbols that look like potion ingredients (vials with blue, green or yellow liquid) as well as what appears to be magical stones (well, we’re going to assume they’re magical).
This slot has a tumble feature, whereby if you spin and get a winning combination, those symbols disappear and new symbols tumble in to fill any gaps.

This means that one spin could result in multiple winning combos! The number of symbols in a winning combo is noted on a table on the right-hand side of the screen.
If you reach 25 winning symbols, one of four modifiers is randomly applied to your board.
For instance, you could get “Invisibrew”, which removes all low-value symbols at the end of the completed spin and replaces them with new symbols.

I was more of a Neville Longbottom than Hermione Granger in this game.
The classic 50-payline slot requires a total bid value of between 50p and £100.
I placed two bets at 50p each and like so many alchemists before me, failed to make any gold.
It’s a shame that I didn’t get to experience the Jackpot Mania Ultra feature, which can be unlocked if three or more scatter symbols appear in a single spin.
Had I got this feature, I would have had the chance to win 1000 x my total bet.
However, I didn’t unlock the feature. Looks like I flunked potions class!

Like the Room of Requirement, there’s a whole lot more to this game than meets the eye!
Let’s start with the dramatics, which start as soon as you click on the slot’s icon.

There’s a glowing portal behind him. I clicked “Continue”. Merlin appeared once more, in the middle of my board.
He fired off one spell, then another. Next thing, he’d disappeared in a puff of smoke and his spell book had zoomed to join the game logo at the top of the page.
I didn’t even care how my game went, I was already entertained. Yet, the slot wasn’t done enchanting me.
Not only does it have classic slot features (eg, paylines, adjustable bet amount and multipliers), but there’s also “Gamble” and “Volatility Settings”.
With the Gamble function, you can choose to risk your winnings for a chance to double them in a side game that involves a Matrix-esq choice between a blue or pink potion.
Of course, you don’t have to gamble your winnings, you can click “Credit” to collect what you won on the spin.
I thought it only right that, in the spirit of seeing just how far my £10 could go, I should try the Gamble function.
I did manage to double my 20p win to 40p… but then I tried to double it to 80p and ended up losing all the money I had made on that spin.

The Volatility Settings allow you to adjust the game style, from low to standard to high volatility.
It means you can have more frequent but lower paying wins (low), big wins at a fairly frequent pace (standard) or you can risk it for a chance of BIG WINS but at a less frequent rate than other settings (high).
It seemed only right to give all three settings a go! To test the settings, I played 5 games at 20p stakes on each setting:
- Low: won 55p (but lost 10p in my attempts at double or nothing).
- Standard: won 40p (but lost 20p at double or nothing).
- High: won 85p (didn’t gamble it!).
The Pig Wizard

- Won 18p
The super hero mashup you didn’t know you needed is pigs and wizards. Pigs will fly before you play this slot!
Literally…
A pig on a broomstick comes to zap the board for you just before game play.
With a Jackpot King Pot of just under £1.3 million, and a promise that the Regal Pot will be won by £35,000 (currently on £16,360), this lil piggy is trying to get you to the bank!
HOW MUCH CAN YOU WIN IN THE HORSE-THEMED GAMES ON SUN VEGAS?
I played five games on this slot, with varying bet amounts (20p, 40p, 40p, 60p and £1) and got 18p.
I’m not sure that Harry Trotter was actually casting a spell, and not a curse… I could also just be a sore loser…
How much could you win?
My winnings pot was smaller than my horse-themed Keep up with Katrina.
However, the slots I played were quite different and it was fun to explore them and their features.
I played for 50 minutes, but that wasn’t dedicated playing, as I was repeatedly clicking on and off the icons so that I could watch the animations play out (my official line is that it was research purposes for this article, the truth is I liked watching the magic piggy fly).
