We would normally get ready for the glamour of the Met Gala in May, however, this year’s ceremony was postponed until 13 September and now the time has finally arrived for the A-list to grace the red carpet in their finest.
Each year we witness celebrities and A-listers take to the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to show off the most incredible – and sometimes slightly bizarre – fashion choices in order to raise funds for the museum.
Over the years we have seen the likes of Rihanna steal the show with her dramatic looks, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s matching metallic looks, and who could forget Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic hats?
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, and we can’t wait to see what our favourite celebrities wear, and who will make the best dressed list.
Fashion brand New Look has revealed the most popular Met Gala dresses and celebrity looks ahead of this year’s event…
Taking the top spot for the most popular outfit is none other than the style icon himself, Harry Styles.
Back in 2019, the singer attended the event wearing a black lace look from designer brand Gucci, which has since had over 20,100 searches, beating the likes of Kim Kardashian.
Kim Kardashian takes home the crown for most popular dress with over 17,600 searches.
At the 2019 Met Gala, the reality star took to the stairs in an insane nude latex dress by designer Thierry Mugler which featured crystal water droplets attached and an incredibly tight corset.
After Kim comes another lady who is continuously upping her fashion game, and that is Zendaya who has had 10,800 searches for her show-stopping Met Gala looks.
From her memorable Cinderella Tommy Hilfiger dress at the 2019 event, to her 2017 Dolce & Gabbana parrot patterned gown, there is nothing this lady can’t make look a million dollars.
Another gentleman who has become known for their amazing sense of style is Hollywood actor Ezra Miller, who has been in such films as Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.
In 2019, Ezra stole the show in a Burberry suit which came with a diamanté corset. But what really wowed was the incredible artistry of his make-up, which saw him rack up 10,700 searches.
One star we look forward to seeing grace the red carpet each year is Rihanna. She is always guaranteed to knock the dress theme out of the park in one way or another.
We have seen so many varied looks from the singer, from the iconic Guo Pei giant yellow coat dress in 2015 – which became a worldwide meme – to her insane John Galliano priest-inspired outfit. This would probably be the reason her outfits have received over 9,200 searches. Go girl!
Blake Lively comes in sixth with 8,100 searches for her outfits. However, one look that will always be tough for the actress to beat is her flawless Versace gown at the 2018 Met Gala which had such a long train that she had to get a party bus to the venue in order to fit her dress in!
For someone who has only attended the Met Gala a handful of times, Kylie Jenner has received over 7,700 searches for her outfits – which is pretty incredible.
Whether it was the Alexander Wang black velvet gown she wore at the 2018 event just months after giving birth, or her fabulous lilac Versace dress in 2019 where she matched her hair to the oversize feature sleeves – we’re equally obsessed.
Another male who is just quite simply everything when it comes to not only their acting but their gender-breaking fashion is Billy Porter.
Gaining 7,600 searches, the 51-year-old never fails to impress with his style, so when he rocked up to the 2019 Met Gala being carried on an Egyptian bed to which he then rose from to spread his giant golden wings, we were instantly amazed.
When it comes to Lady Gaga, we all know that she doesn’t do anything by halves.
So when she took to the opening of the pink carpet of the 2019 Met Gala, the pop singer not only had one, but four looks by Brandon Maxwell.
She had a whole performance choreographed for their reveal, therefore creating 6,900 searches for the looks. Now this is what we call stealing the show.
Last but not least, model Gigi Hadid takes tenth place with 6,700 searches as she continuously uses her impeccable modelling skills to treat the iconic staircase as her catwalk.
Wearing an intricate and stunning Versace gown at the 2018 event, Gigi wowed in the effortless and elegant look.
