Happy (almost) Birthday, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex! The former Suits star turns 39 on Aug. 4 and from the sounds of things, it seems like she’s going to have a really good time.
A new report suggests that she and Prince Harry might take a mini-vacation to get away from all the noise of the past few months. Here’s what we know so far.
Meghan Markle’s birthday comes at a ‘stressful time’ for the royal
Meghan has continued to face headlines ever since she and Prince Harry stepped back from their senior roles within the royal family in March.
Now settled in Los Angeles with Prince Harry and their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Meghan has attempted to keep a low-profile. However, a new biography on them and their decision to step down has created a fresh round of drama for the two — from speculation that they are exiled from the royal family to rumors that they have allegedly upset other royals.

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment. Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie. Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue. As they continue to grapple with negative press, insiders have claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan are “struggling” in Los Angeles. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has reportedly only added to their alleged stress, as it has forced them inside and delayed their rebrand.
Meghan Markle’s birthday plans revealed
Royal expert Katie Nicholl suggested to Entertainment Tonight in an interview published on July 30 that Prince Harry might whisk Meghan away for “a change of scenery.”
“It’s been a very stressful time for Meghan, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if she does actually decide to just go on a road trip and have a change of scenery,” Nicholl explained. “I mean, they’ve been at the house that they’re renting ever since early March now. They really haven’t been out much at all.”
“They haven’t seen their friends. They very much been in self-isolation and on lockdown, and it wouldn’t surprise me if she just actually needs a change of scenery,” she continued.
Katie Nicholl says Oprah Winfrey might join Meghan Markle for the trip
Nicholl went on to detail some of the trials Meghan has faced in recent months, including her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday and its owner for publishing a letter she sent to her father Thomas Markle after her 2018 wedding.
“There have been court cases, now this explosive book which has really seen them come under fire — so, yeah, I would say the best thing is probably to get away for a couple of days if they can, and apparently that is what she’s thinking of doing, taking a road trip, possibly with Oprah and just getting some time out,” Nicholl added.
She also said: “I think if they’re going to go anywhere, it likely will be a road trip. They’re not traveling. They’re not coming over to the U.K. for this Summit as planned. They don’t want to travel, so if they’re going to go and get away a bit, it will be a road trip.”
Neither of them has addressed the report, but if true, it sounds like a good time!
