Queen Letizia of Spain put on a united front with husband King Felipe today as they stepped out to chair a Princess of Girona foundation meeting at the Royal Palace.
It’s the first time the King and Queen have been seen together in public since the day news broke of a bombshell book that rocked the Spanish monarchy.
Jaime Del Burgo, 53, currently based in the UK, recently contributed to a tell-all book about the 51-year-old Spanish royal, in which he makes the far-fetched claim that he and Letizia were still romantically involved after her 2004 wedding to Felipe.
Letizia and Felipe were seen on the day the news broke, attending the Annual Meeting of the Cervantes Institut in Madrid, but have not carried out a joint engagement since.
However, there was no hint of turmoil today as the Queen, 51, stunned in a co-ordinating top and skirt as she presided over the event with her husband, 55 – the foundation’s honorary chairman.

Painting the town red in more ways the one, the queen looked typically chic in a recycled black and red Carolina Herrera Poppy-Print knit skirt.
She teamed the midi skirt with a chic black leather belt and a red long-sleeved silk shirt – with the look serving to accentuate her petite frame.
A clear favourite of Letizia’s, the royal has been spotted in the designer number a number of times, including in January 2020 when she hosted film bosses at the Palace of Zarzuela in Madrid.
She also sported the look in November 2019 during a visit to Seville, to mark the XVI Congress of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language (ASALE).
Today, the mother-of-two once again personified elegance in the bold look, which she paired with black suede knee-high pointed boots.
Keeping things classy, she opted for a pair of gold minuscule drop down earrings, a gold ring that she wore on her index finger and forewent a clutch bag.
Her luscious brunette locks – which featured a sprinkle of highlights – were parted just off-centre and were laid voluminously around her face.
A nude base, a dash of red sultry eyeshadow and a pink glossed lipgloss were the perfect additions to top off the look.
She appeared in high spirits as she made her way across the palace grounds with her husband King Felipe.
The king displayed impeccable style in a sharp navy blue suit, a crisp sky-blue shirt and a pressed red tie.

Both him and his wife posed effortlessly for the cameras and made sure to greet all guests in attendance.

The news comes as King Felipe and Queen Letizia have released a new family portrait for their 2023 Christmas card.
In the newly unveiled photograph, captured on Princess Leonor’s 18th birthday in October, the Spanish family of four appears stronger than ever, despite recent claims.
Entrepreneur Jaime Del Burgo, – who claims he was dating Letizia when she first met the heir to the Spanish throne – casused a stir when he shared a selfie the Queen taken in a mirror during one of her pregnancies as ‘evidence’ of their relationship on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the selfie, the royal can be seen wearing a black pashmina – which Jaime claims belonged to him – and he also typed out a message, supposedly sent to him by the Spanish Queen.
It read: ‘Love. I wear your pashmina. It’s like feeling you by my side. It takes care of me.
After sharing the image, other X users questioned the validity of Jaime’s claims – given there is no evidence that Letizia sent him the photo or accompanying message. The businessman has since deleted his X account.
A spokesperson for the Spanish royals told FEMAIL: ‘We have no comment to make about this.’
