A woman has shared the ‘horrific’ messages her former fling sent her when she tried to end the relationship.
Mandy had been seeing a man for less than a month when she realised she wasn’t attracted to him and that his personality wasn’t what she wanted in a partner.
‘I tried giving him a chance but he was flaky and bragged about how he slept with multiple women and paid for escorts,’ she revealed on Reddit. ‘He just grossed me out so I had to end it. We only went on one formal date.’
The man completely ‘freaked out’ after she expressed her disinterest – going on winding paragraphs about how they were ‘perfect’ together and he didn’t understand how she changed her mind so quickly.
‘I’m in shock right now,’ he responded. ‘This is not you. I don’t know what’s going on, you’re literally making no sense. Have you been putting on a façade this whole time?’

Mandy originally wanted to speak over the phone but the man said he was ill and would prefer to text, so she continued to be polite – explaining that while she had fun getting to know him, they simply weren’t compatible.
But he refused to take ‘no’ for an answer and continued to accuse Mandy of lying to him or falling for someone else.
‘You probably met a guy tonight,’ he said. ‘We need to have a real talk – I feel like you’re taking the easy way out [by texting]. I’m seeing you in person and we’re talking this out. I’m not losing you like this. I’m seeing you tomorrow afternoon.’
Mandy started to feel anxious because of the man’s persistence and begged him to calm down – but he insisted that he was ‘flaky’ because he was ill and that it wasn’t a reflection of his character.
He texted: ‘You need to trust me. This is something that can be explained and talked over – emotions are just high right now. Let me call you in the morning – even for the sake of nothing ending it over text. This is stupid, we’re both adults.’

The man told Mandy she was being rash because he felt like they had a good connection
Mandy responded: ‘My emotions aren’t high, it’s just not working out. I wanted to call you but you said you can’t talk over the phone.’
She added, ‘I called you out for being flaky and yet your behaviour continued. I can have a perfectly normal conversation with you, but there are more things to consider when evaluating a potential partner. You lack characteristics I want in a relationship.
‘It’s simple, to have true feelings for someone, it requires more depth that I don’t see in you or your behaviour.’
He then accused Mandy of being ‘cold’ and a villain – and then sent her a long string of messages explaining his side of the story.
The man continued to insist on seeing Mandy in person, but she no longer wanted anything to do with him and made that clear
‘Your reasoning is unwarranted and a little out of pocket. You don’t have to be honest with me, but for your own personal growth, you should be honest with yourself.
‘Maybe it was just a pipe dream to envision us together, but I thought we were compatible. If you can’t go without seeing me because of my current impediments (that are out of my jurisdiction mind you) then maybe you’re right.
‘I am on a path to success and there are times when I’ll fall down that I’ll have to get up. I think I’m looking for someone who’s more understanding and open-minded.
‘I’m sorry but I refuse to acknowledge the fact that I’m being flaky, because you’re painting a few incidents as the centric ideology of your whole refutation [sic].
‘That statement is more a testament to you just being unreasonable with my current plate that I’ve been dealing with, but it’s your choice at the end of the day and I’m not going to argue with that. It’s not my character and I stand firm by that.’

Some couldn’t believe the man would react like that and shamed his actions.
‘I’ve had eerily similar responses from guys who just couldn’t fathom why I was no longer interested and insisted on talking in person,’ one shared. ‘Almost like they know it’s easier to manipulate and guilt trip face to face.’
‘This guy seems really emotional over a month-long relationship,’ another pointed out.
‘It’s gross. How hard is it to just accept that it’s not happening? You can be disappointed, but you can’t force someone to stay with you/go out with you,’ a woman wrote.
While others blamed Mandy for ‘prolonging’ the conversation.
‘Honestly not sure why you kept replying. It was just prolonging an uncomfortable conversation,’ a woman said.
‘Why are you making fun of someone pouring their heart out? You’re ruthless,’ another said. ‘No class whatsoever.’
