Sainsbury's has a new bridal collection starting for as little as £22
Who says your wedding has to bankrupt you? Well, if you’re getting married on a budget, why not turn to your local Sainsbury’s?
That’s because the supermarket is now selling a bridal collection that’s affordable and gorgeous.
Sainsbury’s fashion label TU unveiled two new styles for brides who want to look good without breaking the bank.
One of the offerings is a white sleeveless pleated dress which will cost brides £22, meanwhile, a white bias-cut will set you back £50.
More limited edition styles are set to drop with Tu later on in the next couple of weeks, sizes ranging from UK eight to 24.
For brides who want a less traditional feel and want to opt for more of a presidential look, there is the option of a two-piece Bianca Jagger-style suit.
The suit comes with a double-breasted jacket and wide-legged trousers, with the whole ensemble costing £68.
Sainsbury’s is the first supermarket to offer a bridal range, while Asda has a wedding lingerie range.
Emma Benjafield, director of product at Tu, said: ‘We’re always focused on meeting our customers’ evolving needs, and we know that many are looking for affordable, classic styles for wedding events.
‘We know that for a lot of our customers, money is tight right now.’
The move comes after research shows that wedding costs are growing exponentially.
Coupled with the cost of living crisis, more brides and grooms are looking for ways to save, as opposed to forking out thousands for wedding suits to be relegated to the back of the wardrobe.
Research by the Compare Wedding Insurance website found that, following a dip after the financial crash of 2008, the cost of getting married has been steadily increasing every year for the past 12 years.
However, the increase between 2023 and 2024 was a modest 3%, suggesting that average spend may be levelling off at around £25,000.
Given the current cost of living crisis, it’s possible we’ll see a decrease in the average spend on weddings in 2025.
So if you’re getting married any time soon, it might be worth keeping an eye out of the Tu range.
