Shoppers 'absolutely gutted' as major fashion retailer with 400 locations announces store closure | The Sun
SHOPPERS have been left "absolutely gutted" after a huge fashion retailer announced one of its stores will close in days.
New Look, which has 400 locations in the UK, is pulling down the shutters on its branch in the Cornmarket, Lancaster, on September 2.
The retailer announced the news on Facebook last Friday.
A statement read: "Lancaster, we'll be closing on 2nd September, but don’t worry, you can still get your feel-good fashion fix online and on the app!
"Thanks for having us but it's time to say goodbye."
Dozens of shoppers have commented on the post sharing their dismay at the store's closure.

One said: "Absolutely gutted – my go to place – the staff are always brilliant – they know what will suit your body and are so helpful!!
"Such a shame for Lancaster!!"
A second shopper said: "That's so disappointing I like New Look and I know you're still online but I prefer coming in store and trying things on."
A third added: "Gutted.. litterally (sic) no more shops in Lancaster."

New Look has already closed a number of its stores this year, including some in recent weeks.
Its branch in Fosse Park Shopping Centre, Leicester, closed for good on July 25 and its store in the Kings Chase Shopping Centre, Leeds, shut on August 9.
Meanwhile, its shop in the Crossgates Shopping Centre, Leeds, will be shut for customers by the end of this month.
It shut six branches in January and February this year too.
But it's not all bad news – in November 2022, it opened several shops across the UK.
It also has plans to open more stores in 2023, though it hasn't said how many and where in the UK they'll be.
Which retailers are closing stores?
A number of high street retailers have been struggling financially in recent years as consumers turn their attentions to online shopping.
High energy and wage costs have further piled pressure on businesses since last year.
A number of well-known brands have crashed into administration already this year, including Paperchase and Cath Kidston.
Other notable retailers have been closing stores, like Argos and Iceland, including a number this summer.
But it's not all bad news as there have been stores opening too.

Co-op opened six new branches in March this year while B&M and Poundland are also pulling up the shutters on stores.
