A tearful Ashley Cain made it across the finish line after cycling over 1,000 miles to raise much-needed funds for the Azaylia Foundation .
The reality TV star set up the kids’ cancer charity with partner Safiyya Vorajee as a tribute to their daughter, Azaylia Diamond Cain, who tragically died in April at eight months old.
The 30-year-old former Ex on the Beach contestant completed the monumental journey alongside his brother Matty, racking up an impressive 1,040 miles between the foot of England and the head of Scotland.
The money that the pair raised will all go to the Azaylia Foundation, which “aims to support families that are fundraising for treatments not readily available on the NHS and provide children with memorable experiences as they fight cancer”.
The epic sponsored cycle rolled to a close on Tuesday night as Ashley shared a series of emotional Instagram Stories at the John O’Groats finishing line.
Taking a well-deserved rest under a sign pointing to Land’s End, where he and his bro set off on their gruelling ride two weeks ago, the former footie pro stared up at a dark sky.
“John O’Groats, we made it. A thousand plus miles. Incredible”, a chuffed Ashley said.
He went on to say: “I’m gonna enjoy some whisky and reflect on the amazing journey that I embarked on with Azaylia, with my family, with my friends”, before thanking “the amazing people from around the world who supported me the whole way”.
“We made it, baby! We made it! Let’s go, champ!” Ashley shouted with joy.
The Ex on the Beach star promised to give his 1.8 million followers updates the following day, and that he did.
Returning to his Insta Stories today, Ashley posted a clip from Inverness airport, flashing his inked legs – toned too, as they would be after a cycle that hard.
“Land’s End to John O’Groats. It’s been emotional. It’s been epic. It’s been a journey to raise awareness and life-saving funds for these kids fighting cancer”, he said from behind a face mask.
The Challenge competitor rounded off by revealing the whole thing had been a “journey of self-discovery to find out how strong I am and what I’m capable of”.
