Boy George says hes burnt his filthy letters from Culture Club bandmate

Boy George has "burnt" all the "filthy" letters he received from Jon Moss.

The 62-year-old singer had a tempestuous relationship with his former Culture Club bandmate – which ended in 1986. In his memoir, Boy George previously said: "Our love, however diseased, was the creative force behind Culture Club."

But in a more recent interview, the singer confessed that the exchanged love letters have now been destroyed. He said: "A couple of years ago I burnt all the letters he wrote me. It wasn’t like they were like Lady Chatterley’s Lover’s letters.

"They were just filth. They were about sex. They weren’t romantic, they weren’t loving."

He then said the letters no longer had any use for him as he gets older. He added: "It wasn’t anything I’m going to read when I’m 70 and go, 'Oh, so sweet.'"

Boy George, whose real name is George Alan O'Dowd, was in a relationship with Moss for approximately four years. Their union, although turbulent, helped inspire hits like Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?

However, with alleged physical and verbal abuse on both sides,it was clearly affecting band members Mikey Craig, 63, and guitarist Roy Hay, 61. Sharing his thoughts on his relationship in his 1995 autobiography Take It Like A Man, George said his relationship with Moss was 'built on power-tripping and masochism'.

In August 2020 George publicly apologised to Moss saying: 'We are having this court case so I thought I would call him as I thought I was really moved by the script. And I was really moved by the story of how we met and I suddenly thought: 'You know what, I forgot about all that.'

"I forgot about all that really amazing stuff when I met him and you know how much I was in love with him and how it was so beautiful and exciting and all the stuff happened. It got lost in all this kind of bitterness and all this feuding.

"So it was interesting for me to sit with Jon and go: ''Actually mate, I might have to apologise to you for some things.'''

Earlier this year Boy George and Culture Club were ordered to pay £1.75million to Moss. The ex-drummer was suing over lost profits after allegedly being kicked out of the band by their manager in 2018.
